Thursday, September 6

Wow, the builder made great progress, and that inagural worship service was great, wasn't it? Doesn't the worship space look great?

OK, just kidding! We just had to use pictures from a trip to the DNC at Time Warner Arena to have a little fun!

But now back to reality. The theme this week is "DETAILS". Little by little, one by one, defined features are coming into the picuture, and the building is taking on more and more character.

Example: More and more floor tracks for walls are being laid, and door frames and vertical studs are installed. Rooms are taking form.

Example: The roof over the entire building is being covered and defined more and more.

Example: Pipes and conduit are popping out everywhere. In this picture, the two black pipes sticking up in the middle of the picture will connect with an air conditioner unit. The system of pipes and ductwork and units for the HVAC system is becoming more and more visible.

Example: This geometic framework is not a public sculpture! But when covered, it will be the precise, geomtric corner of one section of the roofline. More and more, the outer edges of the building are taking one more detail.

Example: See the light colored wood that outlines each of these window openings? The addition of that detail means that the windows are framed and ready to receive glass window assemblies.

Example: You have seen in previous blogs pictures of the stairs leading the the balconies in the worship space. Now the railings on the landings are being added. Details. Details.

Example: Concrete has been poured to form the floors of the balcony seating area. Now it truly looks like a balcony. Railings and pews are details yet to come!

And more and more, out in the parking lot, more materials arrive----details yet to come! These pallets of precast stonework are building details yet to come. Just need to be installed!

The valve & pipe assemblies and light green housings are part of the water supply system that will make the connection with the city's water supply. Details awaiting installation!

The concrete floor of the stage in the youth asembly area in the lower level will be poured tomorrow. One more detail takes shape!

So at the end of this week, we have workmen all over the building. The pace is picking up. The future rapidly is coming now!

And P. S.! Stay tuned! We are just about 1 month away from the arrival of the steeple. We will keep you posted on the date for the mounting!

Mounting the steeple on the current sanctuary in 1972!
